GermanGames

Page history last edited by mark 3 yrs ago

This page is going to have good examples of german games....

What are German Games? Ah, the age-old question. Well, it's really a general term for the new wave of modern board games, because most of the great games have come from Germany and German designers in the last decade. Some folk call them Designer Games (because the designer's name is feature of the box front just like an author), some folk call them german-style games (because the principles and ideas have spread to game designers outside Germany now), but I'll stick to German Games for now.

They have the same common features:

Quick, simple, easy to learn rules - german games do not have complex rules sets, no looking up tables and checking special conditions, the rules are broadly very simple and direct

Interaction - german games typically involve lots of player involvement, even when it's not your turn, you have to watch what happens.
